A local media house has petitioned High Court seeking to overturn the interim order issued on April 21st 2017 restraining journalists and media houses from running any series on the investigation into the murder of AIGP Felix Kaweesi.

The media house through its Executive Editor Giles Muhame claims that the order was issued without giving them a fair hearing and equal protection of the law.

Muhame adds that the order was passed without proof that his Media house was in possession of any classified material whose publication would cause an imminent threat to national security as falsely claimed by the IGP Kale Kayihura.

The interim order gagging the media against publishing stories regarding the investigations into the murder of AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi was issued following Kayihura’s success application against some media houses and journalists.

Kayihura accused the defendants of publishing confidential information relating to the said investigation of the late senior police officer, and the security of Uganda without permission from Police.
