It is alleged that Walusimbi developed a quarrel with his grandmother over unclear reasons beating her up before pouring petrol on her house attempting to burn it down.

According to Gayaza Village Chairperson, Emanuel Kalema, they were attracted by alarms made by the old woman’s grandchild after Walusimbi pounced on their grandmother and beat her up.

Kalema blames the incident to drug abuse saying that a normal person cannot act like Walusimbi adding that many youths in the area have become a menace to the community because of drugs.

Noah Sserunjogi, the Southern Region Police Spokesperson, has confirmed Walusimbi’s arrest saying that he is going to be charged with assault and attempted arson when police investigations into the matter are completed.

Sserunjogi says that Police is going to intensify operations to fight drug abuse in the region since it’s is becoming a leading cause of crimes in the area.
