Independent presidential candidate John Patrick Amama Mbabazi has criticized the Electoral Commission for allegedly abdicating its duties on regulating campaign activities.
This follows reports of chaotic scenes and disruption of candidates’ rallies, the most recent being at the FDC candidate Dr. Kiiza Besigye’ rallies in Gulu district.
Other cases of campaign violence were reported in Ntungamo district where several people were injured in clashes between supporters of the NRM candidate and those of Amama Mbabazi.
The former premier tells KFM that the electoral body has exposed its inability to conduct a free and fair election come 2016.
The Electoral Commission says the matter is under investigation and it awaits a police report on the same.
