Residents of Abaya village in Moyo district along the Uganda-South Sudan border have killed an unidentified soldier of Sudan People’s Liberation Army in Opposition.
One of the residents who preferred anonymity says the armed soldier was attacked after he reportedly attempted to cause insecurity in the area.
He adds that the angry residents picked up his gun and handed it over to the UPDF officers operating along the border.
Lt. Ahmad Hassan Kato, the UPDF public relations officer West Nile region has confirmed the incident, saying the intelligence team is yet to establish the facts on the ground.
He has appealed to the residents not to take the law in their hands and promised to continue conducting internal borderline operations and patrols to ensure safety of the people living in the border area.
