In a press statement issued this afternoon, the health minister Dr.Jane Ruth Aceng has asked the Uganda Dental and Medical Practitioners’ Council to investigate the matter to its logical conclusion within one week.

She has also urged the general public to continue seeking services at the institute and other health facilities as the government is committed to delivering quality health care services to its citizens.

On Tuesday the Uganda Cancer Institute distanced itself from reports of negligence by its medical workers which reportedly led to the death of a patient in its compound.

Addressing a news conference earlier, the Institute’s Executive Director Dr. Jackson Orem instead blamed Kiruddu hospital where the patient had been admitted for what he calls the improper referral and blamed the driver of the ambulance for dumping the patient at the institute.
