Lukandwa says that they were shocked to find out that a baby believed to be about 2 days old had been dumped in a pit latrine calling police that retrieved the toddler from the pit.

Noah Sserunjogi the Southern Region Police Spokesperson has confirmed the incident saying that police with the help of residents they have managed to retrieve the baby form the pit.

He says that police has taken the victim to hospital for treatment as a hunt for her mother goes on adding that she is likely to be charged with child neglect when police investigations are completed.
