Musicians charged & remanded for offensive communication against the president released on bail

Two musicians charged yesterday and remanded to Luzira prison for offensive communication against the person of the president have been released on bail.

The two Jonah Muwanguzi producer of the song WUMULA and musician David Mugema have been released by Buganda Road Court grade one magistrate Gladys Kamasanyu.

She has ordered them to pay cash bail of 1 million shillings each and their sureties were ordered to execute a non-cash bond on 10 million shillings not cash.

She has ordered the accused persons each to pay 1 million shillings cash and the sureties have been bonded 10 million shillings not cash.

The two were remanded yesterday by the same magistrate on the charges offensive communication which they denied.

Prosecution states that Jonathan Muwanguzi (producer of the song) with David Mugema and others still at large between 2015 and 2017 at Salaama Road in Makindye Division Kampala District willfully and repeatedly composed and recorded a song entitled ‘Wumula’ were they attacked and disturbed peace of President Yowering Kagutta Museveni with no purpose of legitimate communication.
