The Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga says the house will not spend any money on the forth coming Golden Jubilee Awards slated for Monday next week.

She was responding to reports on social media that parliament is to spend over 600 million shillings for the awards ceremony.

Commonwealth day commemorated with call for unity in face of adversity

Parliament has recently come under public scrutiny for its high expenditure with over 86 billion shillings to be spent on cars for legislators in addition to Sh1.9 billion that has been spent for iPads for MPs.

Kadaga says that all is set for the ceremony but the social media reports are a misrepresentation of facts.

Over 1000 law makers including those from the Legislative Assembly will next week receive their post-independence medals.
