NRM Treasurer and Nakaseke Woman Member of Parliament (MP) Rose Namayanja has undergone surgery and according to doctors at Nakasero Hospital, she is expected to be discharged in two weeks.
This has been confirmed by the NRM secretariat spokesman Mr.Rogers Mulindwa.
Mr. Mulindwa tells KFM that a team of doctors led by Isaac Kajja operated on the legislator inserting an interlocking nail that will help bond her broken thigh bones.
According to Dr Ben Mbonye of Nakasero Hospital, Namayanja got a double fracture on her thigh.
Now Mulindwa says Namayanja has made progress and two of the other accident victims who include the driver and bodyguard have been discharged. Her mother Catherine Namirembe too remains in hospital
Namayanja was involved in an accident at Kigogwa along the Kampala-Bombo Road as traveled to Kasangombe in Nakaseke district for the commissioning of a new Health Center III.
The accident involved the MP’s Land Cruiser and a truck laden with sand whose driver was reportedly trying to save a commercial (boda boda) cyclist.
Traffic police in Luwero have attributed the accident to reckless driving on the part of the truck driver.
