Currently Uganda has no legal framework on organ transplant and this has limited health experts’ efforts to save lives using the available organs.

Speaking during an Eye Clinic Camp in Mubende, the state minister for heath Sarah Opendi said with such a framework in place, health workers will be mandated to keep eyes of dead people and use them on those in need.

She also revealed that government is advanced stages of establishing an eye bank.
