Economists have criticized the president and parliament for allegedly conniving and approve the controversial income tax amendment bill 2016.
Yesterday, the speaker of parliament Rebecca Kadaga confirmed that the President had assented to the Income Tax Amendment Bill 2016, which controversially exempt allowances of members of parliament from taxation.
Now speaking to KFM, Ramadhan Goobi, an economic done at Makerere Business school –Nakawa said that the bill its entirety is very good, but it lacks universality.
He said that if the motive was to eliminate the unjust taxation on allowances, this would have applied across the bill, but not legislators exclusively.
