Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta has defended the proposed controversial changes to electoral laws amid spirited opposition from various quarters.
Addressing a campaign rally in Busia this evening, Kenyatta has told Jubilee supporters that these changes would help prevent future mistakes by placing criminal responsibility on electoral officials who fail to follow regulations.
Mr Kenyatta argues that mistakes realized in the August polls will be prevented by amending the law.
The proposed changes have drawn criticism from the opposition National Super Alliance, whose candidate Raila Odinga accuses the ruling party of changing the rules of the game at a wrong time.
