The opposition has warned that the dismissal of medical interns will further cripple the delivery of health services especially as the festive season nears.

The Director General Health Services, Dr Henry Mwebesa in a December 10th letter gave the over 500 striking interns one week to vacate government hospital premises to pave way for new medical interns that are due to start next year.

Mwebesa also asked the striking Interns to find their own way of completing their second rotation in order to be signed off.

Speaking to KFM, the Shadow minister of Health Timothy Batuwa says the order by Dr Mwbesa is careless and a portrayal of a government that doesn’t care about ordinary Ugandans who have for long decried for poor health services in the country.

He has demanded that the government withdraws the statement.

According to Batuwa, the medical interns have tirelessly dedicated themselves to serving Ugandans adding that it appropriate they are rewarded by a better one year internship program.
