Civil society organizations involved in election observation have expressed concern over the increasing violence during campaigns.
Addressing journalists this afternoon the Citizens Election Observers Network noted that as elections draw close there is increased intolerance, unfairness and excessive use of force.
The chairperson of the network Livingstone Ssewanyana says there is also growing tension and fear in the country which might deter Ugandans from voting.

In a related development, the Uganda Joint Christian Council has deployed a total of 3,000 volunteers that will observe next month’s polls. This has been revealed by Rev. Fr. Sylvester Arinaitwe, the Executive secretary of the Council during a two day civic training of Christians that will participate in the exercise.
