The cultural leader has appeared before Jinja Chief Magistrate John Francis Kaggwa who did not allow him to say anything in respect of the charges that are capital in nature, bailable and triable by the High court.

According to the charge sheet, the Omusinga allegedly committed the offence at the Army Detach in Kidodo cell, Central Division Kasese Municipality in Kasese District.

The Omusinga was represented by a group lawyers by David Bwambale.

Earlier on Tuesday afternoon, while presenting a statement before parliament, Internal Affairs Minister Gen. Jeje Odong said intelligence reports indicated that the Omusinga was directly involved in commanding of the militia groups.

Meanwhile Kasese law makers want top military and police officers investigated for alleged neglect of duty and cause of mass deaths in the district.

Responding to government’s statement, Kasese Municipality MP, Robert Centenary said the officers including the UPDF Chief of Defense Forces Gen Katumba Wamala ignored attempts for restoration of order and went ahead with the attack on the king’s palace.

The MPs also demand the unconditional release of their King.
