The Minister of Works and Transport, Eng. John Byabagambi has called upon all religious leaders to start intensive sensitization of preaching to mothers and their spouses to stop delivering in their homes and to access health facilities for delivery in time to reduce cases of obstructed labour that lead to cesarean sections.

He said, there should be no reason why mothers should produce at homes and even fail to check on pregnancy, when government has constructed and equipped all its health facilities.

Eng. Byabagambi made the remarks following complaints from the Medical Superintendent of Uganda Martyrs Ibanda Hospital Dr. Emmanuel Byaruhanga who revealed that out of one hundred expectant mothers admitted in the hospital 30 percent are delivered by caesarean section for coming too late and exhausted.

Eng. Byabagambi was speaking at the official handing over and making accountability of chemistry machine installed in the hospital purchased by the Uganda Golfers Association at Uganda shillings 50 million and the opening of laboratory facility that was constructed at a cost of Uganda shillings 120 million with the golfers contributing Uganda shillings 16.5 million at Uganda Martyrs Ibanda Hospital in on May 31, 2015.

On politics, Eng. Byabagambi thanked the people of Ibanda south constituency for being 99 percent NRM supporters urging them to maintain the patriotic spirit as the country looks forward at 2016 general elections.

The function was presided over by the Chinese Ambassador to Uganda Zhao Yali who donated fifty mattresses, five wheel chairs and five pieces of screens courtesy of Chinese government.
