A senior army officer Ahmed Seiko has been sentenced to two months imprisonment for participating in fuel diversion while on a mission in Somalia.

The General Court Martial chairman Maj. Gen. Levi Karuhanga ruled that Lt. Seiko was informed by the diversion of fuel in the Amisom but he failed to investigate the said diversion and did not report the matter to his superiors.

However Court acquits Lt. Seiko on a charge of failure to execute one’s duties, saying no evidence for the entry of vehicles in the Amisom camp without checking.

The seven members of the General Court Martial chaired by Maj. Gen. Levi Karuhanga also found out that by the time when the vehicles came in it was during day time and Lt. Seiko was away on other official duties.

Lt. Seiko was accused of failure to execute one’s duties and participation in stealing fuel when he failed to investigate the diversion of fuel and failure to report to his superiors.
