The Uganda National Bureau of Standards has vowed to shut down all factories that are illegally manufacturing drinks for the market without the consent of the Bureau.

Yesterday the Bureau closed a factory manufacturing a millet malt drink called Bushera at Bajjo Mukono, on grounds that it was producing unhygienic products.

Speaking to kfm, Denis Odur a surveillance officer at UNBS said that the exercise will be conducted in parts of the country.

The Bureau is also cracking down on companies that are forging its quality mark.
