Government explains ID mess

ID registration

The government says it has undertaken measures to address the language barriers affecting the national ID registration exercise.

The Deputy spokesperson at the ministry of Internal Affairs Benjamin Katana says the enrolment officers have been trained on how to handle individuals who have challenges in filling the registration forms.

This follows complains from various parts of the country that most people were shunning the exercise because the forms are written in English, a language most Ugandans don’t speak especially the illiterates and those in rural areas.
