African parliaments challenged by Pan African Parliament President
African parliaments have been challenged to ensure good governance and accountability to end injustices.
The call was made by the Pan African Parliament President, Roger Nkodo Dang, who says they parliaments have a great role to play in pushing for respect for the rule of law in their countries and using their positions to foster dialogue between warring parties.
He cited discrimination based on social, economic, religious and political grounds as one of the leading factors triggering terrorism on the African continent.
The PAP MPs were deliberating on the Role of the Pan African Parliament in Combating Terrorism, Monday, 17 October 2016 in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.
Meanwhile Prof Ogenga Latigo said terrorism is a regional issue that requires coordination between countries with a common perception of what must be done.
