Government is asking local investors to take interest in the beef industry.

Agriculture minister Tress Buchanayandi says the industry is not fully exploited because yet the country has over 14 million heads of cattle.

Buchanayandi also says the country has failed to stop exportation of live animals because nobody has taken the initiative to exploit the potential of this lucrative industry.

He was this morning speaking at a mining and agriculture symposium organized by the Australian government at Speke Resort Munyonyo.

The three-day conference has drawn participants from 25 African countries including 150 researchers from Australia to discuss prospects of Africa’s mining and agriculture sectors.
