Delegates from different countries have started arriving for the World Cities Mayors Forum that opens on October 1st to 3rd at Speke Resort in Munyonyo.

KCCA spokesperson Peter Kaujju says this is an annual global event where city mayors and leaders come together to discuss pressing urban issues and share best practices.

Kaujju adds that the forum that is held in Uganda for the first time will help foster greater collaborations between cities across the world.

In a related development, a  section of Kampala Capital City Authority Councilors has dismissed reports that 30 of them have already appended their signatures to be forwarded to Kampala minister to endorse Suleiman Kidandala as acting Lord Mayor.

According to one of them, Baker Serwamba about 10 councilors have not yet signed.

Serwamba says the petition is aimed at ensuring that the technical wing recognizes Kidandala to approve his monthly salary and other benefits so he can start conducting KCCA business, including chairing meetings as they wait for Court’s pronouncement on Eria’s Lukwago’s case.
