Activists have demanded that the former NUP presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine is arrested and charged in court instead of putting him under house arrest.

Bobi Wine who came second in the just concluded presidential election, has not left his home since he went out to vote on Thursday, last week.

Bobi Wine has since taken to social media to demand for lifting of his house arrest saying that his home is surrounded by hundreds of police and soldiers and yet he is starving after running out of food.

The center for constitutional governance executive director Sarah Bireete says maintaining Bobi Wine under house arrest is illegal since his home is not a recognized detention center.

“Police have no business being at the home of Bobi Wine. They have no business taking occupation of private citizens residents, if Bobi Wine and his wife have committed a crime, let him be arrested and charged before courts of law,” said Ms Bireete.

Police yesterday denied Bobi Wine is not under house arrest but they are just controlling the people visiting him.
