Election for Workers members of parliament ended successfully last evening with four incumbents bouncing back to parliament.

Workers are among the categories of parliament’s special interest groups that include, Youth, army, elderly and disabled.

The race that only has a reserve of five slots in parliament attracted 18 candidates.

The incumbents who went through include; Charles Bakabulindi who garnered 228 votes, Margaret Rwabushaija 291, Arinaitwe Rwakajara 271 and Agnes Kunihira 326.

The new entrant Abdu Byakatonda gathered 174 votes and defeated incumbent Dr Sam Lyomoki.

Others who lost in the race include; NOTU chairman Usher Wilson Owere, Dr Ekwaro Obuku all lost.

The presiding officer Ibrahim Kakembo says a total of 500 delegates took part in this election out of which 6 did not vote.
