Addressing journalists at the party headwaters in Najjanakumbi, the deputy spokesperson Paul Mwiru says Kaweesi murder suspects have allegedly been tortured by police, the most recent one being the mayor of Kamwenge Godfrey Byamukama. He says the suspects are tortured to forcefully extract information from them.

Mwiru adds that the police force through its spokesperson Asan Kasingye distanced itself from the torture allegations urguing that individual police officers said to have been involved have been arrested.

He insists that if police as an institution is not responsible for the torture, it shoukd name the individual officers, their ranks and numbers to restore the  citizens’ confidence in the force.
