Delivering her message during the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of UCU Kampala Campus, the Minister of State for Higher Education Dr. John Chrysostom Muyingo applauded the University administration “for the outstanding leadership and running a strike-free University.

Meanwhile on his part, UCU Vice Chancellor Rev. Canon. Dr. John Senyonyi asked government to offer tax exemptions to not-for-profit universities to ease their operations.

He singled out Value Added Tax (VAT) and Income Tax saying they increase the cost of investments in the education sector.

The new UCU Kampala Campus will sit on a two and a half acres of land located at Mengo Musajja Alumbwa Road.

The first phase involving the main academic building estimated to cost about Shs 10 billion is expected to be completed in one year.
