According to the authority’s Director Education Service Anne Galiwango, over 20 schools are likely to be closed mostly in areas of Kawempe and Makindye divisions.

Galiwango says the authority gave schools unto February 4th to acquire licenses and implement the directives on standards but many have failed.

She says the authority has moved to implement the 2008 Education Act which spells out a fine of Shs.400,000 or imprisonment of any person who opens up a school illegally.

Schools like East Lands Junior Kazo, Nakivubo Settlement and Nakivubo Primary school were the first to face the wrath of the city authority.
