The Police have launched a traffic operation aimed at reducing accidents and ensuring discipline on roads ahead of the festive season.
This comes nearly two months since operation ”Fika salama was launched on Kampala – Masaka road after a spate of accidents that claimed several lives.
The police director Traffic and road safety Stephen Kasiima says the operation codenamed “TEMBEYA SALAMA” is meant to support efforts of operation Fika salama and create order and sanity on the country’s roads.
He says the operation targets both drivers and riders who will be found violating traffic rules and regulations or driving under the influence of alcohol among others traffic offences as he explains.
Over 3000 drivers and riders were arrested in the Fika salama operation on the Kampala Masaka highway.
