The Vice chancellor of Makerere University prof Barnabas Nawangwe has said that the police fire report has delayed the reconstruction of Makerere University main building.

Fire gutted Makerere University building in October this year and left several offices and documents destroyed.

To date, the fire report from police investigations has not yet been released to the public.

According to Prof Nawangwe, fundraising of funds to re-construct the University ivory tower cannot take place because all well-wishers in and outside the country have declined to contribute the money until they know the cause of the fire.

He says that police informed him that the report was finalized and has since been taken to the ministry of works where it will be taken to cabinet before it is released to the public.

He says until the report is out, the construction works shall remain stalled.
