The Uganda Netball team, She Cranes has received a financial boost ahead of their participation in the 2015 Netball World Cup games in Sydney, Australia.

A fundraising meeting initiated by the Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga today for the She-Cranes, who beat Swaziland 58- 38 at the Africa Netball World Cup qualifiers in Botswana, saw a collection of about 100 million in cash and pledges.

Kadaga says it is important for the country to offer support to sports, adding that the perseverance of the team, despite the hurdles it has faced in getting financial support,should be reason for more sponsors to come on board the campaign.

The President of the She Cranes, Susan Anek says currently they require a better training ground for the team, noting that Nakivubo is not condusive.

Some of the sponsors included Standard chartered with 5 million; 6.8 million from Bank of Uganda, 50 million from Asiatic Sports, 20 million from Kiboko Enterprises and 7 million from twitter friends of the She-Cranes.
