The Uganda Communications Commission is under attack over failure to ensure that sim-cards that had been deactivated over non registration are switched on.

Following the expiry of the May 19th deadline for validation of sim-card registration, the communications regulator had switched of the sim-cards whose owners had failed to beat the deadline.

However, President Museveni yesterday directed that the deadline be extended to 30th August, requiring telecom operators to switch on all the sim-cards that had already been deactivated but many are still blocked.

Speaking to KFM, the UCC Executive Director Godfrey Mutabazi has called for patience from the affected subscribers, saying switching on the deactivated sim cards will be a gradual process.
