While giving a key note speech to commemorate the day the US Ambassador to Uganda Ms Deborah Malac said the day represents the two government collaboration in moving electricity generation and access to all the people in the country.

Malac says tapping into Uganda’s electricity will help improve the economy by improving the agriculture sector which she says currently employs majority of women and the largest population.

Malac says the grants come as a recognition of women in African power and also serves as a reminder to government that women should be Included in rural electrification if they are to bring about rural transformation.
