The Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety has issued a traffic advisory ahead of CHAN 2024 tournament in Uganda.
This tournament is co-hosted with two other reginal countries including Kenya and Tanzania.
With the tournament set to commence on 2nd-30th August, police expects a heavy traffic around Kampala, Entebbe and all key venues due to team movements, training sessions, and matches.
Michael Kananura, the Directorate’s spokesperson says some road junctions will be diverted effective 2nd August.
He cites the Naalya junction where trucks will be diverted to Kyaliwajjala–Ssonde.
At Seeta junction, trucks will be redirected to Namugongo, at Kinawattaka, no truck will be allowed to access Kireka and at Bweyogerere, vehicles will be re-routed to Kinawataka Rd (Jokas Hotel) among other changes.
He expects strict compliance with traffic regulations, warning motorists of heavy police deployment on all official routes.
