The Uganda Communications Commission executive director Godfrey Mutabazi has said Parliament’s planned radio station will broadcast on one of Uganda Broadcasting Corporation ‘redundant’ frequencies.
This is because all frequencies on the frequency modulation spectrum for Kampala are taken.
Mutabazi was responding to a question by the chairperson of the House Committee on Information and Communication Technology, Annet Nyakecho on why UCC had not yet granted a license for the House radio.
However when contacted this morning, UBC’s managing director, Winston Agaba said the national broadcaster does not have any redundant frequency.
In February this year, Parliament’s Director for Communication and Public Affairs, Chris Obore said a radio station was needed to supplement private media’s coverage of Parliament.
