41st Ordinary Session Of the African Court Opens
The African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights yesterday opened its 41st Ordinary Session that runs right upto June 3rd in Arusha, Tanzania.
The Judges, among others, will examine over 50 applications and four requests for Advisory Opinions.
The Court is composed of eleven judges, nationals of Member States of the African Union elected in their individual capacity.
The Court meets four times a year in Ordinary Sessions and may meet in Extra-Ordinary Session.
Up to 29 April, 2016, the Court had received 90 applications of which 23 have been finalized.
Four applications have been transferred to the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights.
