43% of deaths in Uganda caused by lack of physical exercise

By Denis Edema

A new report by the Ministry of Health shows that 43% of deaths in Uganda are caused by non-communicable diseases that result from lack of physical exercise, late medical checkups and poor nutrition among many families.

This has been revealed by Solomon Oyebode Wilson the coordinator of My Health MY Life campaign that is running under the Ministry of Health to promote public awareness on the importance of physical exercise and good nutrition in prevention of Non Communicable Diseases.

He says chronic diseases like cervical and breast cancer, asthma, kidney and lung disease, diabetes and others are on the rise because the public has no access to basic information.

He was speaking at the launch of physical exercise drive in partnership with the Uganda Police in Jinja.
