Al-Shabaab still a big threat to Somalia

Over one million Somali Nationals are still trapped in the areas directly controlled and those under the threat of the Al-Shabaab Militants.

The Representative of the Somali Interior ministry Hamad Mohamed says people in such areas cannot access basic necessities such as food water, and medicine.

Mohamed says this indicates that the Al- Shabab still poses a major threat to the people of Somalia and the achievements of AMISOM can easily be undermined if a capable Somali National Army is not built.

He says AMISOM should also do more in monitoring the road connecting key towns to ensure adequate food and medical supplies.

He was speaking at a 2-day AMISOM meeting held here in Kampala aimed at consolidating the achievements of the force in Somalia.
