The youth in the central region of Uganda have been tipped on value addition jobs that will help in improving the area.

Speaking to the journalists at a press conference held at Gudie Leisure Farm in Najjera Kampala, an initiative aimed at exposing the nation and the private sector to the invaluable wealth, Prof Gudula Naiga Basaza, the farm’s Executive Director urged the youth to engage in various agribusiness development activities that will help improve their lives.

Basaza said that the youth train weekly in the Parish Entrepreneurship Learning Associations (PELAs) established in the business associations designed to support the advancement of their enterprises.

She added that the industries are comprised of 25 cottages that have the potential of creating employment opportunities for 27,000 youth from the 180 parishes and 100,000 youth from 50 divisions by 2023 .

“The main goal of our investment promotion initiatives is to facilitate development across the country by promoting its regions to potential investors and fostering the formation of a win-win partnership between them and the local communities, especially young people in business,” Prof Gudula Naiga Basaza said.

Meanwhile, the Gudie District Agent of Mukono, Mr. Steven Sekikuubo said that the relationship created through the spotlight engagements and other activities with young entrepreneurs will play a significant role in driving trade across the regions such as innovations, food security, tolerance, and economic development.
