The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has dismissed claims that they have been involved and consulted in the construction of Hoima City Stadium.
This follows recent remarks by State Minister for Sports Peter Ogwang, indicating that FUFA is part of the infrastructure Local Organising Committee for AFCON 2027, and that the federation has been receiving funds from the National Council of Sports to supervise the project.
However, speaking on behalf of FUFA, National Teams Manager Patrick Ntege has refuted the claims.
Ntege says FUFA has never been invited or assigned any supervisory role on the stadium project, and has not received any funds as alleged.
“With due respect we did not get the facts all is lying, we have never been officially invited to curry out any supervision, and there’s no any money that has ever been given to us to go and curry out supervision,” Ntege said.
The developments come after a report by Confederation of African Football highlighted gaps at Hoima City Stadium that must be addressed before it can host matches for AFCON 2027 tournament slated for June 19th to July 18th.
