Anti-corruption activists have asked the Speaker of Parliament to take action against Members of Parliament (MPs) who abscond from parliamentary business.
Addressing a joint news conference with Transparency International, the Executive Director of the Anti-Corruption Coalition in Uganda (ACCU) Cissy Kagaba said absenteeism by the legislators is outright impunity which the Speaker must address.
She says currently, billions of tax payers’ money is being used to pay the MPs and this money must be accounted for by the law makers.
She says they are to petition the speaker to avail them with the MPs attendance lists to be presented to the electorate at every constituency.
