Regional court rules in favour of Zziwa’s suspension

The East African Court of Justice has okayed tomorrow’s sitting of the East Africa legislative Assembly.

Embattled EALA Speaker, Margaret Zziwa last week filed an application in court seeking to block the sitting and to stop the legal and privileges committee from investigating her on allegations of misconduct.

On November 17th members of the assembly who sat in Nairobi suspended Zziwa and replaced her with Chris Opoka to allow a 21 day investigation over her alleged misconduct.

The court ruling means that Opoka will steer the sitting tomorrow, however Zziwa’s lawyer, John Tumwebaze says the decision is unfortunate but they will respect it.
