Strikes dangerous to national stability- Nsaba Buturo

By Ritah Kemigisa:

The growing wave of strikes by both students and workers poses a security threat to the country and undermines efforts to attain development.

The remark comes from the former ethics and Integrity minister James Nsaba Buturo.

Speaking to KFM Buturo said if left unchecked, these strikes will turn into rebellion because they represent a spirit of rebellion which is not important for the country’s development.

His comments follow Friday’s strike by students of Old Kampala Secondary school who were protesting the transfer of their head teacher to another school and an earlier strike by prosecutors who are demanding better pay.

He has urged the government to urgently address the issues leading to such restlessness especially among young people.
