John Orach, the chairman of the National Network for Older Persons of Uganda, told the Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga today that there is no indication in the budget that more funds will be allocated towards the Social Assistance Grants for Empowerment (SAGE) programme.

Orach says most of the elderly persons who are paid 25,000 monthly from the 14 pilot districts, have expressed worry that they may not benefut this financial year.

Meanwhile, the chairperson of the Parliamentary Forum on Social Protection, Flavia Kabahenda says the Ministry of Finance should device means of extending the programme to other districts.

Kadaga promised that the matter will be debated in the House next week.
