Hearing of election Petitions 2026 at the Soroti High Court has been pushed to a later date that shall be communicated to all the parties due to absence of the presiding judge.
This is after the assigned judge, Lady Justice Mary Kaitesi who was scheduled to hear the three petitions today was involved in a road crash this morning on her way to Soroti for official duty.
Justice Kaitesi was set to hear a petition filed by the former Dakabela county contestant in Soroti District Harriet Anyimo Vs Peter Edepu and the Electoral Commission.
The second petition is that of former Pingire County in Serere District Contestant Philip Oucur Vs Peter Ojiit and the Electoral Commission.
While the other is that of Local Council III chairperson John Esadu Vs Abraham Okwalinga and the Electoral Commission.
The Deputy Registrar Emmy Sayekwo informed a fully parked court about the new development Some of the petitioners have spoken to kfm.
“We had come to court today to proceed with the hearing but we were informed that the Judge had a problem, otherwise we were ready to proceed and have the master heard,” Sayekwo said.
