The Police traffic and Road Safety Directorate has warned motorists against abusing Zebra crossings as schools reopen for the third term today.
The Directorate’s spokesperson Michael Kananura says Zebra crossings, especially those near schools, are meant to protect the lives of pedestrians, especially learners.
He also warns motorists transporting learning to and from school to avoid excess loading.
Earlier, the ministry of education and sports advised boarding schools in the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area to stagger their reporting and closing dates to manage transportation challenges and reduce traffic congestion.
According to the official 2026 school calendar, the third term will run for 82 days, ending on December 4th, 2026.
