KCCA health facilities overwhelmed with patients due to doctors’ strike

By Damali Mukhaye.

Kampala Capital City Authority is overwhelmed with the number of patients its health facilities are receiving following the doctors’ strike that took effect yesterday.

Addressing the council meeting this morning, the acting deputy executive director Sam Sserunkuma noted that the most affected hospitals are Kirunddu, Kawempe and Naguru.

He says all the patients who should have gone to the Mulago national referral hospital are now opting for KCCA hospitals which are already congested and constrained in terms of staffing and availability of drugs.

Sserunkuma says they are considering other alternatives with the help of the health ministry.
