Lawyers Asked To Sensitise Ugandans On Land Rights

Court of Appeal Justice Remmy Kasule has appealed to lawyers to lead the campaign to raise awareness on the benefits of demarcating land.
Addressing Legal Aid Service providers under the legal Aid Service Providers Network in Kampala, Justice Kasule suggested use of simple methods like plantations to demarcate private pieces of land.
He says land disputes are the major cause of case backlog in courts of law and have also often led to lose of lives.
Justice Kasule adds that raising awareness on demarcation would also reduce cases of land grabbing by powerful people which has left hundreds landless.
In another development Justice Kasule has called the respect of the justice system as the country heads for the 2016 general elections.
