Limited funding remains the biggest challenge faced by Makerere University.
Speaking at the 65th graduation ceremony, the Vice Chancellor Prof Ddumba Ssentamu has revealed that the university is currently engaged in a number of income generating activities to help address the existing funding gaps.
Ddumba has also thanked President Yoweri Museveni for the cordial relationship with the Makerere University Staff Association.
Meanwhile the police has assured all people attending Makerere’s 65th Graduation ceremony of security.
Speaking to KFM the University’s Security Chief Tom Kasimo says enough personnel have been deployed in and around the university to ensure safety of all those who will be attending.
He however calls on members of the public to remain vigilant.
He further cautions members of the public against moving with electronic gadgets like Phones, Ipads and Cameras to avoid inconveniences.
In a related development, grandaunts and their relatives have been asked to avoid drink driving as they jubilate.
Over 13,600 students are set to graduate in the 3-day event with diplomas, degrees, masters and PHDs in different disciplines.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Traffic Commander Norman Musiga, many grandaunts tend to become over excited and drive while drunk, putting their lives in danger.
He warns that traffic police have been alerted and whoever is caught will face the consequences.
