Over 3000 drivers have been arrested since the Fika salama launch

David Kugonza | November 9, 2016

Over 3000 drivers and riders have been arrested since the launch of operation Fika salama on the Kampala-Masaka road.

Operation Fika salama was launched in August this year, following a spate of accidents that claimed several lives.

The police director Traffic and road safety Stephen Kasiima says majority of those arrested were mainly due to reckless.

He says accidents have reduced on the Masaka highway however claiming that many drivers have now run into the city since this operation was launched.

Yesterday in a bid to boost fika salama operation, the police launched another operation called Tembeya Salama aimed at reducing accidents during this festive season.
