PM Rugunda requests donors to consider buying mosquito nets from Uganda

David Kugonza | July 4, 2017

The prime minister of Uganda Dr Ruhakana Rugunda has asked the ministry of health to negotiate with donors funding supply of mosquito nets to Uganda to consider buying from Uganda.

This was pointed out by the minister for trade Amelia Kyambadde during a meeting on progress of improving Uganda’s competitiveness claiming that this practice has persisted despite Uganda having local farms producing the same.

However the ministar Opendi said that most of these mosquito nets are 100% donor funded thus negotiating with them on that ground.

Now the meeting has resolved to consider negotiating with donors to buy from Uganda instead of sending imported nets
